TMF Mountain Film Competition and Awards
Transylvania Mountain Film Award, founded in 2018, is designed to inspire and support mountain films and video productions. The competition rolls out annually as a trigger for mountain lovers, athletes and creatives to work together and share their mountain adventure experiences with the rest of the world!
Each year we launch a key theme for all festival competitions. For 2025 the lead theme is FREE SPIRIT and we leave it up to YOU to get inspired and send your film of choice that best suits to this theme!
Film categories for the 2025 mountain film competition:
1. Mountain Adventure Shorts – Mountain adventure short movies/videos of max 20 minutes. Vertical ascents, vertical descents, ice climbing, rock climbing, deep caving, diving, free flight, free ride, downhill – put it all together in a short yet intense production.
2. Mountain Feature Film – Mountain adventure feature film of 40 – 75 min. Feel free to connect with verticality and high points of view in all aspects and share your perspective with us! Big wall experiences, deep water soloing, deep void soloing, high altitude, vertical caves – all should be a starting point for this category.
3. Mountain Documentary – Documentary films of 40 – 75 minutes documenting real vertical stories from the mountains: expeditions, explorations, sport life (ski, rock climbing, alpinism, canyoning, flying, hiking, biking, caving, etc.), wild life in the mountains, landscape changes, etc.
