In November, the 3rd expedition of Transylvania Mountain Festival deployed in an all-mountain format, brings to the public and the festival friends the 2020 Official Film Selection! Given the current conditions in Romania and abroad, the online film collection and the viewing duration is extended by courtesy of the team. You are welcome to find inspiration from the #VerticalStories submitted in the competition this year.

LIGHT IN THE DARK
Italy, 2020 / Mountain documentary (42 min). Director: Claudia Crema
The Remeron Cave, located on Monte Campo dei Fiori just outside Varese, was a destination for daring explorations since 1900, in an attempt to reach the bottom.
This documentary tells the story and the events that have made this cave famous throughout the Varese area and in Lombardy, as evidenced by the thousands of visitors who cross the threshold every year. An exciting journey retracing the adventures conducted by a handful of explorers whose life was entrusted to precarious equipment, the only ones available in those years, with the original tales of the protagonists and the sensational news reported by the press of the era, up to our time, with the risky underwater exploration of the terminal siphon, the discovery of new branches and a second entrance, the scientific observation and study of the hypogean fauna hosted in the deepest areas, to finally reach the enhancement of this interesting cave through initiatives aimed at the public with the planning, each year, of guided tours inside

BUILDING BRIDGES
Germany, 2020 / Adventure short (18 min) . Director: Johannes Olszewski
The Making of #buildingbridges is a documentary detailing the production of the film from its conception in Germany to the final shoot in America. We follow members of the team through the process of devising and filming the stunt featured in the narrative short: a slackline suspended between two hot air balloons floating above Monument Valley. This is a documentary with heart that will make you marvel at what humans are capable of.

TRAVERSINGS
Italy, 2020 / Documentary (1h 14 min min) . Directors: Alberto Valtellina, Maurizio Panseri
The crossing of the Orobie Alps with skis, from Como Lake to Carona di Valtellina, has been traveled four times since 1971: 180 kilometers and 15,000 meters in altitude in a week. In the most populated Italian region, a few kilometers from the logistics headquarters, from the industrial sheds, from the aperitifs, you discover wild, wonderful and solitary places. Maurizio Panseri and Marco Cardullo in spring 2018 travel and film the itinerary for the fifth time. The film Traversiadi is a journey through the mountains and in the history of mountaineering: Maurizio and Alberto go in search of the originators of the crossing, in the Bergamo valleys and in France … Le traversiadi is shot in the classic format 2.39: 1, Cinemascope, because if it is true that the Cinemascope was born to shot snakes, as Fritz Lang says, in Le Mepris by Jean-Luc Godard, we think it is fine also to shot skis.

The Road Ahead
Sweden, 2020 / Documentary (49 min) . Director: Fredrik Erixon
For the climate through Sweden on roller skis for 28 days – from Karesuando in the north to Smygehuk in the south. During planned stops, Fredrik meet Swedish ski profiles and discusses skiing and scary snow forecasts that may endanger the existence of the sport in the long run.
