The 7th expEdition | The Line
Transylvania Mountain Festival brings Cluj once again in the spotlight of people passionate about mountains, sports, outdoor technologies, mountain films and photography!
The 7th edition of Transylvania Mountain Festival will have its official opening on November 18 at the Faculty of Geography of the Babeș-Bolyai University with the launch of the book “Mountains… Feelings, memories, thoughts” by Dinu Mititeanu. The doors of the festival will open to the general public on November 19, with the screening of the films in competition at the historical Cinema Victoria, with exhibitions and events at the Institut Français de Roumanie à Cluj and at Atelier Café.
Local and international public will have the opportunity to discover the incredible adventures and philosophy of life of skiers, snowboarders, free ride, MTB, climbing, mountaineering, free flying, sailing and mountain hiking!
This year’s festival edition attracted competitors from 26 countries who entered their projects and works in the festival competitions.
TMF 2024 PROGRAMME
This year, the programme of TMF – Transylvania Mountain Festival 2024, THE LINE edition includes:
- 18: Launch of the book “Mountains… Feelings, memories, stories” by Dinu Mititeanu
- November 19 – 24: screening of mountain films from the TMF 2024 competition at Cinema Victoria
- Nov 19 – 24 : TMF 2024 mountain photography exhibition at Atelier Café
- 19 – 24: “Natural Vâlcea” Exhibition
- Nov 23: TMF – Transylvania Mountain Festival 2024 Awards Gala
- 24 Nov: Hiking organized by the Romanian Alpine Club Cluj Branch and climbing workshop organized by Gravity team

TRANSYLVANIA MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL 2024 AWARDS GALA
The highlight of the festival is the TMF Awards Gala. Already a tradition, the winners of the Transylvania Mountain Festival awards and trophies will be announced at an official ceremony by actor Bogdan Bob Rădulescu on the stage of the Cinema Victoria on 23 November for the following categories:
- TMF 2024 Mountain Photography Award
- TMF 2024 Mountain Film Award
- TMF 2024 Mountain Innovation Award
- TMF 2024 Award for Mountain Activity
Films Line-up TMF 2024
As the most beloved moments, the Transylvania Mountain Festival 2024 film screenings will take place at Cinema Victoria between November 19 – 24.
The program includes fresh documentaries and feature films, premiering in Romania:
– ANDREA, Un Unpaved Road with Nina Caprez (France, 2024) directed by Maxime Moulin – a project supporting impoverished regions through sports, recently awarded with the Jury prize at SPORTEL AWARDS in Monaco!
– CIRCLE OF MADNESS (Austria, 2024) directed by Christoph Thoresen – a project featuring star athletes Markus Eder (ski) & Victor de Le Rue (snowboard) returning to the legendary spine walls of Haines, Alaska, where extreme free-riding movies were born. The film just won the International Freesports Film festival “Film of The Year” Award!
– KEEP IT BURNING (Spain, 2024) directed by Guillaume Broust – a project featuring climber Edu Marín, his brother Alex and father Novato, attempting the second free ascent of “Eternal Flame” in Karakorum, the wildest mountain range in the world. The film gains momentum day by day, with thousands of spectators flocking to the live screenings, as it already won two awards (Jury’s Prize, Ritter Award) and is part of official festival tours across the globe!
– OF A LIFE TIME ( France, 2024) directed by Jérôme Tanon – a celebration of discovery, adventure, and the passing of the torch to the next generation against the breathtaking backdrop of Antarctica. It chronicles the renowned De Le Rue family’s journey as Xavier, Victor, and 18-year-old Mila sail across the Drake Passage to ride the unimaginably steep icy lines of the white continent. The film is just about to start its worldwide mega tour!
The selection will also include a number of new short films covering various mountain sports and expeditions from recent times.

- Daniel Mirlea, a passionate nature and wildlife photographer, author of “Vâlcea Naturală” project.
- Papa Ionut and Alex Manoliu, two Romanian mountaineers who recently established Pamir Rainy Avenue (700m) a new route on Pamir Pyramid in Karavshin valley, Ak-su, Kyrgystan.
- Julia Roger-Veyer, a dynamic and talented French adventure and sports photographer.
- Sodi Vlad, Romanian artist and freeride skier
- Propark Foundation for Protected Areas, representing the main capacity building provider for protected areas in Romania.
- Bogdan BOB Radulescu, actor and Master of Ceremony at Transylvania Mountain Festival Awards Gala.
