Transylvania Mountain Festival 2025 Submissions Are Open
Entries for the Transylvania Mountain Festival competitions are now open and we invite you to enter your favorite section: mountain film, mountain photography, mountain innovation and mountain excellence.
For 2025, Transylvania Mountain Festival announces a new edition, full of excitement, exploration and creativity! As we have become accustomed to, we are issuing a new challenge to mountain sports and activities enthusiasts with a theme that we hope will inspire you: FREE SPIRIT.
Mountain Film Competition 2025 – Categories:
Adventure short film: a category dear to every filmmaker’s heart, as it forces us to boil everything down to its essence. We’re looking for real experiences that tackle the theme of free spirit from different angles, crossing a variety of sports and activities: climbing, mountaineering, free ride, cycling, kayak-canoeing, caving or free flight. Maximum duration: 20 minutes.
Mountain Feature film: a category where documentary reality can be combined with the poetry of mountain life. For 40 to 75 minutes you can explore the depths of human nature and the heights of the mountains, the majesty of the elements and the power of will. Whether presenting high-altitude expeditions or initiatory experiences, through this category we seek to capture the essence of the free spirit.
Mountain documentary: reality captured and explained on the big screen. The category of the mountain documentary movie tries to bring unique but true situations as close as possible to the eye and mind of the aspiring audience. From expeditions to mountain sports (skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, mountaineering, climbing, caving, hiking, running, cycling) to wildlife and the impact of climate change on the planet – all the chosen topics can be of interest if they bring a remarkable angle on the theme of the issue.

Mountain Photography Competition 2025 – Categories:
Mountain sports photography: If mountain sports catch your eye, pick a few highlights from climbing, tour skiing, free riding, mountain biking (MTB), snowboarding, mountain running or more extreme activities like canyoning, paragliding, highline or mountain river surfing, choose a few shots and enter them in the competition. This category seeks to capture the essence of movement and sport in the mountain environment.
Mountain landscape photography: This category invites photographers to capture the natural beauty of mountains in all seasons and altitudes. Whether underground caves, dense forests, glaciers, alpine rivers or national parks, the aim is to impress us with spectacular images of remote and wild areas.

Mountain Innovation Competition 2025 – Categories:
Passionates for innovative products and services can enter solutions that make life in the mountains easier, safer and better: software applications, portable equipment and devices, energy solutions and systems, environmental exploration and protection, innovative materials, rescue tools and systems, educational platforms and specialized services.

Mountain Excellence Competition 2025 – Categories:
Entries for the competition for outstanding mountain projects are made for the following categories: projects with regional and national impact, outstanding biographies of people who have had an impact on mountain activities in Romania and beyond, sports record of excellence in various mountain sports and disciplines.
Submissions should be sent directly to info @ transylvaniamountainfestival.ro with clear arguments in support of the proposal and contact details so that we can get in touch with you.
Who can participate?
The TMF film and photography competitions are open to both professionals and amateurs who want to share their unique vision of the mountain world. If you are passionate about the mountains and have captured memorable moments through photography or film, now is the time to share them with our community!
The Mountain Innovation Competition is open to all organizations promoting technological progress, innovative materials for sports equipment, innovations for energy autonomy and access to utilities in remote environments, innovative solutions for environmental protection and conservation, digitalization of tourism services, social innovation projects.
The competition for activity at the level of excellence in the mountain environment is aimed at those projects, personalities and achievements that have had a notable impact at home and/or abroad.
Deadline and application details
